Do I Feel Lucky (Punk)?

The title is a clue that this is about guns!

My Son is needing his first handgun, a Taurus Mod 92, refinished, and I was telling him about Brian and the Duracoat finishes. He's pretty much decided to have Brian do his gun for him, but wanted to pick up a couple of extra magazines for it, and have those done at the same time.

So we went to the local gun shop looking for spare mags, and there was this long, 20-round clip, and I wanted to see how it looked in the gun. So yes, they do happen to have a Taurus 92 and would be happy to show me how it looked in that gun. Well, the clip looked awful, sticking out the base of the gun like that, but the gun they had was a beautiful stainless steel old-style Taurus Mod 92. The shop figured the guy who had it probably shot a couple of boxes of ammo through it and never cleaned it, then let it sit for years getting all gummed up. When he took it out and it wouldn't work right for him he practically "gave" it to the gun shop to get rid of it. Sheesh, some people shouldn't be allowed to own guns! They cleaned it up and discovered it had almost no wear on it, but they priced it in line with what they gave for it.

Needless to say, I was tempted. But I haven't bought a gun in years! Heck, I haven't even really gone shooting in years. So I asked the advice of the person I trust the most, knowing she'd tell me if I was being stupid. Yes, I asked my Wife. I even took her to the gun shop and showed her the gun! So when she said to get it, I did! Oh, and the price? Only $350, and it had an extra clip!

So Sunday my Son and I went shooting. My Wife would have gone with us, but she's still only three weeks out from surgery on her back. So she took a nap and we went shooting. The new gun is perfect! It is all smooth, and the trigger pull is just about right for me. I also took a couple of my older revolvers, a S&W .357 and a Colt .38. It was nice to know that I could still hit the target the first time with my .357!

So, do I feel lucky? Yes, very lucky! And although I do feel lucky to have found such a good deal on a super nice gun, my real luck is in having a Wife who is so cool about stupid guy-stuff, like woodturning and guns!

Congrats on the new gun Scott! and you are very luck to have a wife that shares the same interests as you. I have that luck with my wife. She loves to deer hunt with me every year, even when its cold, wet and yucky. She's always wandering around the shop looking at stuff and has no fear of using the tools even though she hasnt made her first pen yet. Heck, sometimes she even beats me to the grass mowing. lol

Great story Scott. Two years ago I would have asked if your wife had any sisters. But, I have a wonderful woman like yours now. I hate it when she touches guns though I have a Taurus Featherlite .38 special but, wish I still had the Colt Mustang .380 Don't sell your guns if you ever want it back. DAMHIKT

I often wonder if I could. I sold my Ruger Blackhawk .357 about 10 years ago and haven't done any shooting since. I was never a competitive shooter but could still lay in a pretty decent group with that gun.

Glad you are happy with it Scott. Its a great gun and at that price, you cant go wrong. Im looking forward to refinishing your sons Taurus, especially if he decides on the two-tone finish.

Hi Brian!

Yes, I think the two-tone finish has captured his attention! I know you said not to worry about sending the clips with the gun, but he found us a reasonable deal on some extra mags and has ordered them. I'll probably send you my clips too! I like the idea of you coating my clips all the same so I can tell easily which ones are mine.
