Thanks in advance!
John,
I am not sure if you need help with the best on-line brokerage to use or with the actual activity of trading options.
I stopped paying brokerage fees many years ago when it finally occured to me that my broker was being paid for doing what I told him to do. Why not pay the commission to myself?
That being said, any brokerage account can pretty much do what you need, BUT, some will require you to prove that you are experienced at trading options before they will set you up. The biggest differences are the fees and the charts that are available to you. The online ones like Etrade and Scott Trade are pretty good, both having many of the REAL TIME charts that are needed along with many others. You might check with your personal bank. Many that have in-house brokerages also have on-line trading accounts at reduced fees for customers. It is also a place where you can actually get face to face with them which I like. There are some sites that are dedicated soley to options traders.
If you are talking about learning to trade options, all I can say is get lots and lots and lots and lots of education first. Options trading - like pen turning - is an art in itself. Think back about how many pen blanks you destroyed trying to learn the art. The first time you place a put or a call and it pays off is the most exciting thing you will ever experience. There are even ways to make money on stocks that you don't even own.
Good luck no matter which way you go. Just do your homework on all aspects. I'll be waiting to see your name added to the Forbes list of billionaire pen turners.
Cheers
Bob
