Out of staters that come to New England to see the fall foliage Monty

Not just New England....

I was in Gatlinburg, TN on business a few years ago at this time of the year, and on a weekend, the place was in literal gridlock. Folks were heading up into the Great Smoky Mtn National Park to see the fall colors. Must admit, evenually drove up myself -- good sunny day -- it was spectacular. We just don't get those colors here on the west coast of Canada. More softwoods, and not the selection of hardwoods as in the east...

Phil, tourists that flock to see the fall foliage

Thom, down here in San Antonio we have a place called Lost Maples and if the darn weather is not hot as hell then in two weeks they turn to some beautiful colors and folks go to it to see the fall colors. See we all are creatures of the colors, I wonder if the devil has something to do with it that we are so attracted to red hues. Because we see so much of green all the times, huh.

Yeah, we got 'em in full force here, too. We're at peak season, so the out of state license plates almost outnumber the locals. I don't mind really. After all, we are "Vacationland"!

PA is great for Fall foliage also. I never slam the tourist who are willing spend money in my state. If all those dollars dried up, we'd be in more trouble. Peep on!

Hey Thom, after this post, can we call you "Peepin' Thom?"

You can shoot deer in deer season, ducks in duck season, pheasant in pheasant season, so how come you can't shoot tourists in tourist season?:biggrin:

For the same reason that, you can go to a cat shelter and for $50 they will give you a cat, but if you go to a women's shelter they won't give you one.

The Leaf Peepers are out in force today. I wonder if we can cast them or turn them?

Hey, I was one of those today! We took a ride up to Manchester, like we always do this time of year. Its a nice drive for us, and today was summer like weather. Its really the cars with NJ plates I look out for.

[not that there is anything wrong with the fine people who live in NJ]
[.....just the half-dozen who tried to run me over today!....]

You live in a beautiful part of the country, enjoy it. The great thing about tourists is that they go back home.

I don't want to turn them, just turn them around and send them back home. The traffic this weekend was insane. Drove home from a job in NY late Friday. For the first three hours of the drive I never got above 30 MPH. Took almost 9 hours for a 5 1/2 hour drive.
