I started watching the show and had to turn it off. I got enough stress!!!!

I've recorded and watched every season of IRT over the years. Maybe just because I can relate as a fellow driver, but I find it all very compelling. I have not seen this new series, although I am familiar with the road they are driving and I do have it recorded for when I get home on Tuesday. I'm not a huge fan of heights either. Driving over a bridge is no big deal, but being beside a cliff is not my idea of fun. I just watched a movie last week, and I don't remember what it was called, but they were in Hawaii walking some narrow path between a mountain and the ocean and got to a real skinny spot they had to cross, well just seeing how far down to the ocean and the cliff's, and in High Definition, it really got my heart pumping like I was there and I didn't like it!

I've watched a couple of episodes but don't really follow any "reality TV" shows... frankly, I don't believe anything on TV is REAL, so I would rather watch something with at least a micro hint of a story line... I prefer the cop dramas, NCIS, The Glades, The Mentalist, CSI (only the Vegas one and not as fond of that since William Peterson left),
Razzoli and Isles, and such...

I thought this show was going to be in South America on the Death road, not in India. I did not realize there was a similar road there too. That was one crazy episode! I had no idea India was so insane. The way they drive is complete reckless abandon, and trucks made of wood ??? Hell no, I won't be working for them either.

People can say what they want about reality TV, and it sure can be true that most of it is made up for the show, like your fox tv shows, but not the History Channel reality shows. History channel keeps it real, there's no questioning what they show you as being something they made up just to add entertainment. Having driven truck for over 15 yrs now, local and over the road, what happens on the regular IRT is if anything less dramatic than what I deal with every day. Fortunately, my driving career is a cake walk compared to India.

History channel shows are just as bad...Pawn Stars seems so scripted when they're up to their 'hijinks'....in fact, I think that all reality shows are only reality for the first year - then the network execs take over and script it!

I'm not a fan of ice road truckers - they make mid-season ice driving sound like they're being daredevils. In fact, they have so many ice road safeguards that they're safer than the normal ice fisherman. We drive on ice all the time up here without having 'safety crews' to monitor the ice for us. We drive on much thinner ice than they do also - they're driving on multiple feet of ice. They wouldn't risk that much money in machinery and cargo if they didn't carefully monitor the ice to ensure that it's fairly safe...

And those 'white outs' they show are digitally enhanced to make it seem 'whiter'Maybe it's just that I live up in the frozen north, but they sure make it look worse than I'm sure it is.

Deadliest Catch, on the other hand, seems to loose people ever year - that's a dangerous job, in my mind - and one of the ONLY reality shows on TV.
