By all means go and look at it. Write down the model and serial number and then check here. You can either get $100 cash or a completely new table, etc. if your saw model is on the list.
 
Double check on it , but there are recalls on some Craftsman Radial Arm saws . Something to do with the blade guard/antikick back system . It was posted here in the forums several months back as to which saws are involved .
 
Even if it is on the recall list, you make 25% on your investment. And it looks like the recall has already been done on this one.

They aren't bad as long as you are aware of what they can do and always keep your wits about you with them. The same view I have with table saws. Every tool in my shop is dangerous, as long as I treat them that way I'll likely keep my finger count at 10.

A lathe is a very dangerous tool. a loose sleeve or not thinking about how you are working can lead to severe injuries as some have posted on here over the years. I even have a picture of a man who got caught while working on a large metal lathe. I'll just say the result was a closed casket.

Respect the tool, and always give it your full attention.
 
Statistically, I believe they're safer than a TS.
Hard to be sure from the pics but I believe I had one of those.
Sears originally sold 'em for about $750.00; I paid $250 including several blades.
After using it a number of years, my shop set up changed and the RAS became superfluous.
So, I sold it for $250.00 :wink:
They're well made saws and so long as you use the proper safety devices, you'll do well with it.
 
Okay, it's a Craftsman 113-197110 10 inch saw. Went to look and we hooked it up for a quick test, but it was stalling on 1/2" ply. I wasn't encouraged so decided against it. The guy called me from les than 5 miles away and said it was the extension cord he was using. Went back and with a higher guage cord, it had no problems.

Paid him and brought it home. It took more time getting it into the basement shop than anything else. Got it in place and all set up now. No extension cord needed where I placed it and 4/4 Elm was cut without an issue.

Also came with the original manual, the guard manual and a 7 inch adjustable dado blade that I'll likely never use (I prefer the non-wobble type that I already own for my Tablesaw). It should be a worthy replacement for the cheap HF sliding miter that it's replacing.
 
Nice score Mike, I have one and I would not take anything for it. If you dont want that dado blade, what would you have to have for it. I love em.
 
Check the recall site to see if you can get the recall package for the saw. It has a better guard, and a new table and fence. The table is nice- it's made from 1" think MDF. That and a tuneup, and you should be good to go!
 
You will love this saw! I knew the model as soon as I saw the photo. I also knew that it had the safety recall (the original guard was far less substantion and gray, not black).

EVEN THOUGH it has the recall done, BE VERY CAREFUL. RAS have likely claimed as many digits as table saws! Wonderful to work with, but care must always be taken!

That's what I did with our saw at work. We hadn't been able to use it due to the safety guard missing a part. When they tried to order one, Sears sent something entirely different(not even a tool part) based on the # they were given.

I got upset that the saw had been sitting there for a year and couldn't be used, so I wrote down the serial number and did some searching myself. Found out that not only was there a recall due to safety issues with the very guard we were trying to get parts for, but that they would send us a New redesigned guard and new table at No Cost! (or they would have paid $100, but you have to send them part of the saw ???)

I had the same one...I bought it used and I called crafstman and they sent me it anyway...that was 3 years ago...give it a try....also negotiate the dust shroud in.
