How the heck do I mail something to australia. I gotta send my PITH partner his stuff and he is in Australia. Can I use flat rate boxes or should I use UPS or Fedex or something?

Do your custom forms online at the USPS site, saves a lot of time as the desk has to type all you box contents into their computor even though you have done your customs form while waiting in line. Use a flat rate box, usually the cheapest. Prepaid usually takes about 6 days to get to Western Australia which is about as far away from the rest of the planet as you can get, so the east coast should only take about 4 days.

Just like mailing something to Texas. It is after all "A whole nother country". Only thing extra is the customs form.

Im with Gary I have mailed several things, taps, blanks, pens. FIrst class mail isnt bad $6.00-$8.00 and international priority would be about 15.0-17.00. Depends on the weight.

Mailing to us Aussies I request only USPS less hassles good service times. UPS has a history of being very difficult in they try to involve other firms such as customs agents.

We can receive up to value 1000.00 dollars AU value duty free.

Be careful no animal products, no insect holes or punk.never any bark, wrap well inside the priority envelpoe or priority boxes. Delivery varies 6 working days to two weeks door to door delivery here on the East side of Australia.

From Kentucky one time I asked for 140 Pen Blanks to be coded IE numbered no details with a corresponding name sent via E Mail, no problems then with local names for materials and timber confusion when opened by Customs for inspection. Parcels labeled Pen and Wood Pen Blanks on the simple Customs Declaration form.

Believe me it cost us far more than it cost you to send and delivery can be slower. My alltime slowest and headache was from Canada 3 months.

Hope this helps my parcels from the US number countless now we have had up to two daughters resident in the US down to one permanent resident there now.

Regards Peter.

Peter, UPS charge like the proverbial "wounded bull" at this end. They have perfected the art of add-on charges to the nth degree.

I have have always received pen swap stuff via USPS and whenever I buy goods from the US it is always sent USPS, usually Flat Rate envelop or box.

Sending stuff from the US to Oz is less than half the cost of sending stuff from Oz to the US.

Both ways it takes about 7-10 days.

Your parcel left yesterday arvo, so you should have it by the end of next week.

Sent a small flat rate box of pen blanks FIrst class, covered the box with brown tape. Mailed them the afternoon of the 13th they arrived today the 17th. ITs the 18th down there, got a pm on earlier this evening.

I was amazed at the cost of a package of timber I got fro mkyturner Troy it was double what about the same weight cost me to send to him. and I don't think there is that much difference in the currency conversion, I sure hope the wages down under are up over the top.
