what else can go wrong today????

So I finally get some alone time at the house and in the shop. So I have a couple things I want to get cleared up (see another post coming today for bowl blanks) and some things to get the thought processes rolling on some new ideas.

So I go to cut a piece of wood in half on the table saw and fire up the HF Dust collector. She starts spinning , then blows the breaker. No matter how many times I tried, the breaker pops each time. So no DC in the shop for now I guess. Good thing it was just one cut that I needed.

Then I go to make some texture molds out of Polymer Clay for another project and put them in the oven. Wasn't paying attention and apparently set the over to 375 instead of 275. Burnt around the edges and blistered after 5 minutes. So had to remake the molds and redo, on the bright side, the "ruined" ones were made out of "mud" (the brown you get when you blend all the left overs together) and look like old leather in my opinion. Maybe they will find there way into something eventually.

So I'm back upstairs for the moment, checking on the pups and checking in here. I'll go back down in a minute and get some pics of the bowl blanks I'd like to clear out and pack a box of pen parts. Then, who knows. Hopefully nothing else will go wrong down there.

Good luck Mike. I was making a leather journal and was very proud of a new idea that seemed to be working very well only to suddenly remember I had not affixed a method of attaching the writing paper to the inside journal. This is after I had used a spray adhesive and then sewn the complete border. Can't take it back apart. Heh, heh, heh.

Hope things get better for you Mike. I can relate to the temp thing with the pc. I have a couple blanks that looked real good going in the oven, but coming out they rival Curtis's famous cat poo blank.

Mike, it goes to tell you that it's father's day wekend, what are youdoing home alone in the shop? I am glad youdidn't get hurt on the TS ,but seriously, you have a short somewher that you need to check out before you try anything. Good luck and Happy fathers' day man.

Just got back for the Urgent Care center where I had them look at my hand. I was building a cabinet for my show display and shot a 2.5 inch nail about 1 inch into the top of my hand. Just missed the knuckle , so no broken bones.

Hand hurts and is swollen, but no major damage. I was able to pull the nail straight out and had very little bleeding. The nail entered the skin just above my pointer finger knuckle and the tip of the nail was under the skin about an inch toward the second finger knuckle. Luckily the wood slowed down the nail some. :redface:

I was trying to attach a trim piece to the cabinet side and had the nail gun cocked at too much of an angle. The nail shot completely through the small amount of wood and hit my hand. This is the first time I've ever had this happen and I'll definitely watch for the same situation again.

Comes back to one of oldest warnings about power tools....

Always show your tools the respect they deserve.

Sheesh, you take the cake fellow. My finger nail finally fell off and a new one grew back. One of the IAP members recomended I leave the old nail on long enough for the new nail to form under the old. It worked.
But, You are the one in pain on this fine Fathers Day. Take it easy, have a big steak and a beer.

I'm pretty sure the short or whatever is in the HF DC. I dumped some water into the sump pump and it ran fine on the circuit (those are the only things plugged into that circuit). The DC has always been a power hog, I originally had it on the same circuit as the TS, and as soon as the load on the TS increased, the circuit would blow. Then I moved it to the same circuit as the light and again, no go. So with the sump circuit, I'm almost never in the shop when the pump is running so no problem. I'm thinking it's just the HF motor has gone bad after 5 years. I may try swapping the breaker at some point, but I'm not overly concerned about it for now.
