P.S. they are not pen parts. In fact they aren parts at all. Each one is a stand alone item... I just happen to be holding three in the photo.

Beads for your dreadlocks?

Send my prize to.....

Well that wasnt as much fun as i had hoped. Too much talk of my crazy hair i guess...

You nailed it! They are dread beads. The first of many! These happen to be cactus skeleton in PR....

As for the prize.... Where do you want me to send the dread beads to? Do you still have hair?:eek::biggrin:

Ron ... He is Skip"rat" and doesn't have hair as such. Now he does have a very long tail and I would imagine that the holes would need to be somewhat smaller...

Nice beads BTW!

Sorry for spoiling the fun:redface:......but you gotta admit that it was bit like me showing a pic of a bolt and asking what it was when everyone knows it was a pen blank:biggrin:

As for my hair....Cheeky sod!!!! Mind you, it does tend to grow longer out my ears than on my head these days:eek:

Now there is an image that will haunt!!!:biggrin::biggrin:

Apparently Skiprat wants you to send the prize to the green smiley . I am not sure about you guys but I would rather it go to me

No wonder I could not guess. Gender gap.

Actually men and women both use dread beads. They are more of a Utility thing than a decoration thing...

Have you ever seen a long haired dog that desperatly needed brushing? The knots in the dogs hair will end up flattening out and getting matted. That is what will happen to dreadlocks too, so people use beads or string or something to keep them formed round. Of course some people use them as decorations, along with strands of wool and yarn and all kinds of stuff. Johnny Depp has a piece of deer bone in his dreads as "Capt. Jack Sparrow".

Dreadlocks invite mites, bugs and unhealthy critters. When I see them, I want to grab the wearer and put them in a shower with lots of soap and water.

My daughter has dreads and she doesn't have any of the above. She washes her hair often and it looks nice. Most of the people with dreads that I see are very tidy with their hair and actually spend a fair amount of time taking care of it.
Nice looking beads.

I knew I'd step on someone's toes and it was yours, Cindy. Just chalk my comments up to ignorance. When I see dread locks I think of the people I saw in Jamaica. One chased me because I took a picture of him when he was "on break".
I am sure your daughter is a beautiful and well adorned person. My apologies. As for the beads, I'd rather they have more color.:biggrin:

Luckily for me, I got out of messing with my hair (by going bald) before dreds got popular. I had an 18" hawk for a large portion of my life.

18" was the limit to how long it could be when I fan it and have it stay up. I poled it most of the time though. Laying my head on an ironing board and having my mom press my hair was a PITA.

School glue mixed with hair gel will do an amazing job of holding a hawk! Until it gets wet with Faygo Soda Pop!!! Yes, I speak from Experience!!
