I finally got to work with the Ebonite that the guys at work vulcanized.
I'm not real impressed with Ebonite after trying it, but that is just my opinion.
This is the unvulcanized rod I was given.
This is after it was vulcanized. It was pre-cured under 50 tons psi then put in the autoclave.
This is the finished keychain I made from a piece of it.
While turning, there is a smell and taste like someone farted in your mouth, but it does polish nicely with noticably more effort than with plastics.
Thanks for looking.
