Stop making pens for a bit and get back to basics.

Working on a mahogany clock. Hand planing all of the thicknesses and hand chiseling the bowtie inlays on the face.

Some shots after taking the clamps off and getting the back figured out. The top is just lying on there for pictures. Too pooped to keep at it right now.

The planes were a gift from my cousin. He makes most of his own planes and caught wind that I was in need of a few. I wish I could claim 1/4 of the skills he has when it comes to wood, but I'm learning.

That is sure to be an heirloom Carl. I have a friend that makes planes like that. Not having a tablesaw, my 220 gets a lot of use. May see if he's up to a trade!

Here are a few shots of the frame with 3 coats of shellac and some wax. All prettied up and waiting for the face.
