This tree is laying in my back yard of my rental house. No telling how many years its been laying there. Its full of ant holes and rotten. Bowls turned out pretty interesting looking so far.

Thanks yall,
I had a feeling it was a shot in the dark. I was thinking maybe a silver maple only because I have one in the front yard that is about the same size.

If you could give us some idea what the leaves and bark looked like before it became a bio-mass experiment....maybe?

Some of the prettiest wood I've personally seen was just 'mystery wood', that could never be ID'd. And if it's going to be used for your own turnings, who's to say....

I doubt it, never have seen silver maple with that much color, I would say apple, peach or pear.

I live in north Fort Worth Texas. No apples trees around here. So my best guess is pecan. I do have some smaller logs laying on the side of the house that still have some bark left on them so I will take a picture tonight. But I am not sure if they are from the same tree or not.

I have seen this wood before. It took me a while to figure out that this was the same but I am convinced. This is from the yougottame tree.

I know you say it can't be apple but tomorrow I'll take some pics of some apple I cut down a few years ago and let you decide.

Well it could very well be but I havent heard of too many Apple trees being grown here in North Texas. Thats why I dont think it is.
The trunk of this tree is about 3 feet in diameter.
