Water Oak Burl?

I really did not know where to put this but here goes anyway. I have found a "growth" on a small water oak, also known as spotted oak and possum oak. I know nothing about burls so I am guessing that is what this is. It would probably produce a few pen blanks at the most. So I guess my question is, has anyone had any experience with water oak? Would it be worth cutting off and giving a try? Oops I guess that is 2 questions.....
