How did I do it? To be honest I didn't know how it would turn out at first, that is why I used walnut, because I have a lot of it. First you need to turn the wood almost to the bushings. With the blank still on the lathe use a string to twist around the blank and mark with a pencil. Then I used a very small file and followed the markings. On the ends of the pen I took the blank off the lathe, took the bushings off and filed the ends so that the wire would be in between the metal ends. Then I CA'd the wire to the blank, put it back on the lathe and sanded to the finished size. What finish did I use to prevent tarnish? I never thought of about the copper tarnishing until DCBluesman pointed it out, thanks. For the finish I used polyurethane clear gloss. Thanks everybody for your kind comments Alan
