Here is a combination of my wife's gourd carving and staining with my making cool wood round and smooth! The inside is coated so you can put water in them.

AWESOME MIke!!! Your turning and your wife's carving made a fantastic combination!!! Very, very nice! May I ask, what you coated the interior of the vases with to make them waterproof? I've only turned smaller vases and use glass inserts to make them waterproof, soooo I'd really like to find a resource that will allow me to use something other than smaller glass inserts. Thanks for sharing and safe turning to you!

She has used melted paraffin wax and now she "paints" the inside with liquid FlexSeal. The inside of a gourd is pretty rough so that helps with stuff coating and sticking to the walls. I bet the FlexSeal would work on wood vases, though.
