Hi again everyone.
Over the weekend I dropped in at Penn State Ind. and while there picked up some odds and end blanks. Some it told what they weree and some it didn't. Figures...and of course i didn't ask.
Here is one I made and if you can help me figure out what it is that would be great.
It is definitely a soft wood. Kind of pinkish tan and cream. Looks irredescent kind of pearl like. If that makes sense.

Trying to guess wood from a picture is akin to guessing the amount of jellybeans in a jar. From your description I would guess that you may have some mulberry with mineral stains. I had some blanks like this. It sure does appear to be fiddleback maple though. Nice disguise.
