I love going into my local woodworking club . . . I always seem to get a little job, that has to be done quickly . . . this time it's a " Pat, a bloke dropped this piece of laminated, finger jointed timber in, which he tried to route a round cutting board, but had issues. Can you fix it, round the edges and put a blood groove in it as well. We need it back next week"

Sure no problems . . . thinking how the blazes am I going to fit this in with a full week of work.

Well, the planets aligned and I got home at a reasonable hour on Thursday, having prepped the blank on the Monday.

An hour later and it was finished. Delivered it today (Saturday) to a happy customer of the club.

Looks better than mine came out... I had 3 pieces of ambrosia maple all about 10 inches square and 1 1/2" thick... I tried to do cutting boards from them...
guess it worked, I've sold one of them so far.

I finished mine with a mineral oil -- how is yours finished?

Hello Chuck, I left the cutting board raw, due to lack of instructions from the client. He was happy anyway.

I use Mineral Oil for any of my cutting boards, oil them once a day for a week, then leave to cure for a month before making them available.

That Ambrosia maple is pretty, a lot more colour than some of the timbers from down here.
