Seems to be a popular item since the article in Wood Magazine. Here's my attempt at it. Done in American Chestnut and maple burl. This is only my second lidded anything.

Very nice, I just started fooling with making lidded boxes, and am getting tempted to make one of these. I have the Wood magazine article and the more I see of these the more tempted I am to make one.

Suggestion #1...read the article several times and #2, watch the video at Woodonline.com. Even after doing both, I still made a measuring error, luckily, not enough to have to scrap it. It took me 2 hours, plus a 1/2 hour of repairing it after it flew while buffing. Part of the reason it is a bit top heavy...had to take the base down a bit to remove a dent.
