I'm getting really tired of the friction caps I've been limited to, and I've been having trouble making sections. Here is my prototype for making a screw cap almost-kitless pen.
M11 x 1 for the cap threads, and what ever it is for the sierra transmission and small FP/RB sections (M8 x 1.5?).
I started by making the M threads on the blue piece, then put the red/brown collar on, drilled an 8mm hole, then I tapped the section threads. The threads in there are reeeeeeealy close, and I'm wondering how durable the are. It holds up well to bending, so I wonder if the metal threads in there actually reinforce it.
I chose the M11 x 1 because its cheap and uses a 3/8 drill bit, I will invest in a proper 3-lead later, when I get serious about making kitless pens.
Thoughts and comments are more welcome then you would initially think.
