Haven't posted many items lately, mainly because I have been doing other "stuff". Got this one finished today, only had the base to polish. Rest of my hand still doesn't work very well.

The box and lid are made from Tasmanian Oak burl and the finial (my first) is from Australian ebony. Diospyros humilis. The very small piece I have fell off the back of a truck while we were in Northern Australia a few years ago. This is the first time I have done anything with that timber.

I am pretty happy with the result, except the lid is a fraction too small. Had a little oopsy there. Box measures 3.75in x 4.75in including the finial.

C & C welcome as usual.
Thanks for looking.

Bob.

Beautiful box, lid and finial. Great job and wow! working with not so well hand (hoping for speed recovery). It seems has a nice fit in the photo.

I will soon be attempting work along the lines of this, and I believe I can sense your satisfaction with it. Looks great overall and the detail of the finial seems just right for the piece. Nice effort.
