Many thanks all for the comments.
There was a bit a blending with the two woods, but carefull cleaning of the blank between sanding stages with white spirit son cleaned up the Holly back to its original colour.
I did a tutourial on how to do the 'Swirling Segments', but i managed to loose it when i had a major computer crash.
I will do another one and get it posted, what is the best method of posting the Tutorials[?]. They are relatively easy to do so hopefully i should be able to get it done in the next couple of days.
Eagle, the inlay is an actual piece of gem-stone set in an natural void in the wood, this void was drilled out slightly to match the shape of the stone and then i used epoxy to glue it in place. The gem stone had been tumbled and polished so was very smooth to start with and it only needed a bit of final sanding to get to the finished surface.
