I visited Bangleguy, whom I met through this forum. He has a bunch of wood he has accumulated and offer stabilization services. Got a chance to see MesquiteMan's cactus juice and stabilizing system. Pretty cool.
We talked pens, bangles and wood. As I left he gave me a piece of snakewood to use on a pen. This is the result.
Turned pretty well, but had a tough time with the CA finish. The lower barrel has about 50 coats of CA. Put on 10, sand, polish and then broke off a piece of the end separating the bushings from the blank - do over - and again - and again - and again.
Then when I took pictures it appears that the top barrel had the same problem, but it was masked by the coloring of the wood. Still, I am overall satisfied with the end result.
