These are not the best pics in the world:frown: but this is another bowl that I have been working on n my spare time for the past 2 or 3 weeks...It is 3" x 9" and finished with lacquer.( it is still wet)

Is the grain of that one dark piece going perpendicular to the maple? I would be worried about cross grain construction and wood movement if it is?

About 45*

Walnut is is segmented parallel with the Maple, The Padauk is at about a 10* angle off parallel, and the Purple Heart is @ 45* ...You are correct about the movement being a comcern; & I am curious as to how it is going to hold up long term...
