Well in anticipation for getting this box, I finally have 1 blank segmented. I wasn't sure if I would like the blank so I made 2 of them and turned the ugly of the 2. I guess a few more blanks need to be done, just in case I want to get few blanks out of the box. Here is a pic of the turned one. Both were made with stabilized and dyed buckeye burl(orange dye on main pen and black on the scallops)

Got the box today!!!! ghostrider said he was having trouble with his mail, so tomorrow I'll either ship it to him or if there is a problem I'll send it to the next person.

Pic #2: What I took out,
2 from crashmph, 1 from 3peake, and one from psu1980.

Pic #3: What I put in,
The top one is blackwood and deer antler.
The one under it is cherry and blackwood.
The next one has Cigar tubes, Brown malie burl with blackwood and zinc pennies, and a borneo rosewood scallop with a sprite can.
The bottom one is maple and walnut in a stairstep pettern (euro tubes)

It arrived today with three casualties. I will re-glue and get it over to David. My blank didnt survive so I will pop in a replacement.

One of yours (in three pieces), one of mine (in three pieces) and one by PSU1980 (this had just a simple glue up). I'm thinking it got dropkicked.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Joe. Like I was saying to Eric earlier today, "I believe it's just the nature of segmented blanks." When I first read one of the tutorials on this site last year for segmenting, it even talks about taping the blank during drilling so it doesn't blow apart. When there is a small amount of surface area to anchor the structural integrity, you're going to have a delicate piece. Just like cross grain blanks are more susceptible to blow out.

Maybe I should wrap mine in plumber's tape before shipment... and then a lead box encased in cement. :tongue:
