I have one of the three-on-lathe buffing setups from JR Beall. Very nice, but what RPM to use on lathe?????

I've been using 500 RPM with good results, but should it go faster??

Thanks for any and all comments and suggestions.....

Use whatever speed gives you good results. I run mine at about 900 RPM and use a light pressure.

The slower speed and lighter pressure might take a bit longer, but there is less of a chance of removing too much finish or grabbing and throwing the pens across the room.

Others will have different opinions.

Russ; I have been making acrylic bottle stoppers and my new lathe has a 1-1/4 x 8TPI thread. My collet chuck is 1x8 TPI. So I have an adapter, the collet chuck and the mandrel for the stopper. It makes an excellent holder when polishing the stopper!
