Remove Black From Clip

Hi.
I have a few Gel Click Pens with the black pocket clip from Wood n Whimsies.
I might be wrong but, I'm thinking that this black coating is on top of the gold plate finish
Can I remove the black without ruining the gold plate finish?

Off hand I would say no. I think that most of the suppliers put some sort of finish over the gold ("epoxy," Laquer, shellac...) The black stripe would be under this top coat so you would end up with a mess and/or unprotected gold that would last even less time than normal.

Better bet would be to buy some extra clips without the stripe.

OOP's Just realized you might not be able to get extra clip for that style kit.
Best to learn to love it.

Thats right.
Those kits come with only the black clip, which does't always look good with certain types of wood. The cigar clip might work.
