I recently built this pen, and followed the instructions (I found at Woodcraft) to assemble it. My problem is that the upper turned part doesn't securely attach to the transmission; almost as if it were too long. There's a short section of brass tubing in the kit that I cannot figure what to do with; there are no notes about it. It will slide over the transmission as a loose press fit.

Any advice?

That short brass tube is piece "F" in the instructions. It gets pressed into the retaining coupler. I haven't done the twist style of this pen, but did manage to mess up one of the click ones, so I have that little tube stuck to a punch...that particular click pen doesn't work...:)

Ah. Got it. I couldn't find the instructions on your site, Ed. I actually found instructions from Rockler...they didn't mention that little "extension" piece.

I'll knock this one apart and fix it. Thanks much!

No worries...I just placed another order from you and Dawn for more stuff.

IF you ever have questions on kits we sell, PM me (so I am sure to see it)!

We show all of the Berea kits and any kits for which I have written the instructions. We have others that are copyrighted, so we don't publish them, but I will send them to you in email, if you need them. Some day I will rewrite all the instructions---probably NOT soon!!
