Problem with a cartridge pen. Help?

I recently built this pen, and followed the instructions (I found at Woodcraft) to assemble it. My problem is that the upper turned part doesn't securely attach to the transmission; almost as if it were too long. There's a short section of brass tubing in the kit that I cannot figure what to do with; there are no notes about it. It will slide over the transmission as a loose press fit.

Any advice?

That short brass tube is piece "F" in the instructions. It gets pressed into the retaining coupler. I haven't done the twist style of this pen, but did manage to mess up one of the click ones, so I have that little tube stuck to a punch...that particular click pen doesn't work...

Ah. Got it. I couldn't find the instructions on your site, Ed. I actually found instructions from Rockler...they didn't mention that little "extension" piece.
