I haven't posted any pens since I retired last spring. I have been busy doing a lot of fun things. My wife and I are spending the winter away from South Dakota in a number of southern states. We are currently in southern CA and heading for AZ in a few days.

Anyway, here is a chrome bolt action pen with a small (I mean really small) pine cone from SD. I cast it in a clear resin and back painted the blank with a white enamel paint before turning. I have cast a few other pine cones to try this winter when time allows that I will paint the tube with different colors.

I have been happy this one and am looking for comments and criticism. Are others worth the attempt?

Larry, That is a great looking Blank,
being a small cone, it almost looks like a reptile skin pattern.
It is Beautiful, and really sets the Pen off.
Terrific Fit and Finish, and your photography, is nothing to be sneezed at.
Congratulations.

Wise to cast using a clear resin, that way you can make it any color you would like by painting the tube. And a great turning it is...don't be such a stranger!!!
