My wife wanted me to use some stone "donuts" and make a yarn spindle. Some scraps and parts from Slimline kits and we have "pendles" that really work.

Maria -- nice adaptation and a good look!!

I suspect yours is a good bit heavier and less portable. I made that one with friction fit on the tube so the shaft come out for easier traveling.

I will try your variation for a "plying spindle" for the fiber person -- that will have more weight and can use a thicker shaft. Iremember having a 7mm closed end mandrel. Now where did I put that.......

Thanks Ken,
A friction fit is a good idea. I take it then that the tip unscrews? I forget how heavy mine was. I made it last year, but it was a tad too heavy for single-plying the alpaca fiber in the picture. But I made it mostly for the pen function. Gave it to my sister who raises alpacas and has a store to sell alpaca stuff. Thought it would be a cute pen for the register.
