I sanded the wood from 120-12,000 then 5 coats WTF.. sanded with micromesh , 10 coats thin CA, MM again and finished with a visit to the buffing wheel.

I'll try to get an inside picture..

That is a nice egg... like the outstanding finish.

I'm out of kaleidoscopes right now, but when I did make them, they sold pretty well... only problem between tiny parts, little bitty compression rings, and needing to be pretty precise with the size of the turning..... plus not being able to see the little parts all that well....I found was they were a PAIN IN POSTERIOR to put together... and now the kits are becoming exorbitant in pricing.

I had to take a few liberties with photoshop to get the image together.

I need to check but I think the bushing is a little over-sized.
(yeah blame the tools haha)

I was using the gouge and scraper so it's a little tricky getting the angle down flush to the bushing.. I'm not to good with the skew on larger turnings.

good job either way! you can always get close and then use sand paper to finish it off. i really dig that finish!
