did my first ever alumilite cast tonight, with some cherry burl pieces.

while trying to set up, i was faced with an interesting question-
what are you guys using for molds on oddly shaped items you are casting? for examply, pinecones, burl caps, slabs of wormy wood etc. I'm trying to avoid cutting the wood down to fit into individual blank sized silicone molds. my goal here is to cut down on wasted resin.

are tehre any kinds of "clay" that stand up to alumilite which i can make a temporary damn with?

aprreciate any tips.

When casting odd shapes, I just build a quickie mold box out of UHMW. I tape it together with duct tape and caulk it with goop and its good to go.
