These pens were by William Robertson as I taught him how to turn pens... This was his first time in pen turning and is using these as Christmas gifts... It was a joint effort with Will doing most of the work as I gave him direction...

1. BEAUTIFUL piece from an Apple tree from my neighbor's yard... Yes he knows... I wish you could see it better...
2. Cherry cut on the diagonal.. It was a UGLY chunk of wood but is making great pens...
3. Dogwood... Not impressive with the grain but was wanted because it is a favorite tree...
4. Ebony... You cannot see the swirls but it is really pretty...
5. Pen and Pencil set... Made from a green swirl acrylic top with a deep red bloodwood bottom.. Really turned out nice...

It is fun to teach others to do this!!! I feel as if it is my work but with more feeeling since I love helping others learn...

Thanks!!
Derrel

I enjoy nothing more than seeing people I have taught and mentored excelling in their newly acquired skill. I really like the green and bloodwood colors!

One of my all time favorite quotes is this:

"Leaders are best when people scarcely know they exist,
not so good when people obey and acclaim them,
worst when people despise them.
...Of good leaders who talk little,
when their work is done,
their task fulfilled,
the people will all say 'We did this ourselves'"

He is doing a great job with these pens. If you would lke, send me a PM with your address and I will send out a couple of the Dogwood blanks that I have, some of them are very nicely spalted and colored.
