Need your help...

I am refurbishing a small drill press for my son. It is a Ludell DP-3. The chuck is missing. It calls for a JT (Jacobs Taper) 2 1/2. I have found references to the JT2 1/2 but no offerings. It is a 1/2" with a taper depth of 1". When I put my micrometer to work I came up with measurements close to a JT6.

Any ideas?
