This was really fun but the inside hollowing is a real work out. This is an old piece of Hurricane Ike storm damage...Bay Laurel. Smells wonderful turning just like Bay leaves

Was still a little green so I didn't try to thin the walls too much. Will let it dry and then finish and do a finial out of Philippine Persimmon.....nice black with red streaks.

Really nice, George! They call the leaves off of Bay Laurel's "the poor man's Bay leaves". They don't grow here or I'd try 'em. Put a few in some chili and let us know how it works.

Real nice piece there.

Thanks all. Turned all in one piece. Had to make a tool for hollowing it out but it worked. It is my first hollow form, rest are bowls and platters. Real bay leaves are more pungent and one of the cheapest spices. Our Sweet bay Laurel doesn't match up and for my chili, nothing but the best.
Hey Dion, come by for lunch or show and tell sometime.
