I didn't want to hijack Phillip's post on the china berry... I mentioned that it looked similar to the mimosa we have here... everyone hates the mimosa as they are wild and grow like weeds... but usually only about 10-15 years... they're pretty when they bloom and you see them scattered through the woods...
I turned a few pieces and they make some nice patterned bowls... but they are really dusty when the wood is dry... even with a mask on, I sneeze, hack and cough for half a day after I turn a piece.... when it's wet, it smells like old wet socks...

Also did a peppermill from the mimosa.

Looks great Chuck. My Dad recently cut down a pretty big mimosa outside his house. I thought about having him save me a log or two but after your description of the smell I'm kinda glad I passed.

It does make a beautiful bowl though!

Really nice bowls and pepper mills. The figure is especially gorgeous. Nasty smell or not, the end does justify the means in this case.
