This might be a silly question but are there tell-tale signs that MM needs washing/replacing? Are there a set number of uses before you should wash it? With ordinary sandpaper it's easy to tell when to toss it but with micro mesh?? Even though the stuff I have looks shiny and feels smooth it still makes the pen blanks shiny. Am I saying this right? [:I]
Thanks for any help
George

MM will load up differently depending on what wood you are working with. You will notice the build up by the color change and quite often visual signs of wood dust that won't come off. I normally wash mine when the lower grades finally have a coating of dust that won't come off when I tap it against my shopsmith. You have a harder time telling with the finer grits (4000 and up) so I wash them when I do the lower grades. Hope this helps.
