making bracelets question

I was reading the tutorial on making bracelets but have a question on holding them. I see that he uses a block of wood to hold the bracelet for final finishing but I don't understand how it is secured. Is it a friction fit or use an adhesive.

finishing the outside? if so its probably a piece of wood turned to the inside diameter and pressure fit on. personally i use a cole jaws to finish the inside and do the outside before separating to do the inside

I have found out that you can use your chuck if you need to do more work on the outside. I have sacrificed a bike inner tube to cover the jaws before expanding them into the bracelet. Caution is advised not to they to get it too tight as breakage could occur! Gorilla amounts of pressure are not required!
