making a cigar ashtray and stand

So I plan on making a cigar ashtray and stand out of wood. I plan on using some sort of insert in the center likely marble or soapstone.

Anyone know any good places to aquire marble or soapstone (preferably already cut into a circle )

I would check at the local tile supply stores. They may be able to put you in contact with a local tile setter who may have some tile cut-offs. If you do not have any luck let me know. My neighbor is a tile contractor and I am sure he could help. How big a piece and what color would you like? PM me if you like.

Kitchen counter top, granite shop can most likely help. Try WC also the store by me has a few things from time to time.

Depending on what size you want, why not look at the marble cheese tiles in CSUSA?

As much as I hate anything to do with smoking :at-wits-end: Why not get an ashtray and fit it to the stand. There are all sorts of shapes to pic from and all kinds of prices. Some examples of Cigar theamed ones.
