a customer (at my real job) dropped this off at my work today. solid walnut. with promise of plenty more. they are currently burning stuff like this because it is of no use to them

If I couldv'e had a nickel for every burn-barrel I've had filled with BlkWalnut, Cherry, Pecan....well let's just say I'd have a LOT of nickels!



Those look like cut-offs, your customer have a furniture business or something?

yeah, he does mainly stairs and railings in oak and maple but is seeing an increase in walnut and i think some cherry. off cuts are gold to us pen turners. when i think how many pens you can get out of a piece of "fire wood" i am always amazed. going to pay him a visit in the next week or 2
