This all started with a Wenge board (1X8X48) that was laying around in my shop. To make it useful, I sawed it into six pieces (1X3X10), made two stacks of 3 each and glued each stack together. This made two big blanks. I turned the blanks using a 2 inch faceplate on the headstock and a live center on the tailstock. I finished them with a coat of Danish Oil and buffed them with the Beal buffing system. This results are shown in the picture below. There are also two hot off the lathe Pluma's (from Woodcraft) in the foreground. C&C is welcome.

Candle recess in candlestick

Jim,
As indicated each candlestick is a single blank. I turned a lip at the top and hollowed it out to create an approximate 3/8 inch nesting for a 1.5 inch candle. To reinforce the candle more, I cut the top off a nail and sunk it in at the center so the candle is held both by the nail and the 3/8 recess. Thanks for the inquiry and best regards,
Ed
