John,

Congratulations on two counts.

1. You have bought a Taig lathe now Google taig and there is a wealth of information out there. A comment is there are three different shafts to be had in the head stock, I have two Taig lathes and find the basic shaft in the basic model entirely suitable for pens and metal buying the collet adapter and suitable collets cheap as from the dealer.

2. Taig make a huge number of accessories that cover a multitude of uses you will discover.

Also the bed is 15 1/2 inches long so for pens it is beaut as well. The shaft has ball races so far for me nil slop in the shaft one Taig I have used for 15 yrs.

Have fun on the site there are a number of users of your lathe in the membership.

Welcome and kind regards Peter.

Welcome from Indiana. Be careful once you have been bitten by the lathe bug you'll find yourself turning everything you find laying around. This is a great site full knowledgable people.
