I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to ask this since
it's not exactly a pen problem....

Background: One of my projects/businesses is to make custom
boxes for a collectible card game. (anyone have kids who play
Pokeman?... but a lot more advanced. L5R if you know it)

Here's a picture:

Anyway, I've just gotten an RFQ on a box with the ring around the
mon (clan logo) inlaid with garnet. My first thought was "RUN" since I
don't think Garnet would look well crushed, and filling that with chips
and getting them to all stay put would be challenging, if not impossible.

Anyone ever worked with garnet? How'd you do it and how'd you like it?

Thanks

Seeing how garnet is used for some sandpaper, I'd try to create a groove to inset the garnets in resin or epoy so you don't need to touch them with any tools. I think it can be done, but the garnets may have to be the finishing touch.
