I was wondering if you already have a slightly spalted blank could you increase the amount of spalt that is to say respalt it. Or another way could you use the spalt spores already existing in the piece to get it active again and spalt some more?

Being snowed in today, with not much else to do, I looked up the subject of spalting. First shot with Google found that spalt is a tablet for the pain of menstruation. This came from the site of the Museum of Menstruation. Hey, like Dave Barry says, you can't make this stuff up. [:I] Then I googled 'wood spalt', got what I was looking for: http://www.alanlacer.com/articles/spalting.html

BTW if the blank in question is stabilized, forget it.

Otherwise, if you want to toss it aside for a couple months, soak it overnight in some warm water, maybe with a little booze in it. Plop it in a grocery bag or gallon plastic bag with some wet rotty leaves. Seal it up with a big ol bubble of air in it. Keep it warm and wet. Should do the trick.
