Like all of those small dia saws it is a saw that is designed for thinner woods used in model/doll house/ and trim work. I have another brand and it is slow going with hard woods over 3/8".

For cutting blanks to lengths and possible segmenting with a sled or table attachment.
Proxxon mini table saw, Is supposed to be a lot better on thicker material.
There is one for sale in deals.
If you have either a HF club card or a 20% off coupon and the saw is on sale. You can try it and clean it up and take it back if you don't like it they do have a no questions asked returnj other than if it works or is broken!
