I messed up turning a blank for a Gothica pen. Part shipped off. So I was curious if I could save the tube. I turned the blank down to the brass and when i measured the length it is 3.2825". The Gothic tube should be 3.31.

It is a .0275 " difference. Would this difference matter?

Thanks!

BTW: The brass tube came out pretty good. Slightly flanged at the ends but a got it back to being perfectly round

That little bit should not make a difference, it will only compress the spring a little more. If you have a problem, there are two quick fixes. Cut some coils off the spring, or sand a little off the end of the refill. Jim S

Another alternative is to trim the blank a little longer than the brass tube ... that would be half of 0.0275" = 0.01375" beyond the brass tube on each end. That won't matter at all and you will be back to the correct length.
