Hello folks,
My name is Dave and I live in Lakeville Minnesota. I have been turning pens for a couple of years, however, I have been on a hiatus for a while as trying to remodel a basement and getting into the CNC hobby as well has put me way behind the times. So much so, I see that some of my favorite kits (Emperor and Lotus) are no longer offered. Getting on this forum is inspiring me to get back at it. So I will be in here regularly if nothing else to be inspired. I am hoping to set up a nice retirement niche for when that time comes.

Thanks talk soon
Dave

Welcome Dave, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Welcome from San Diego,Dave!

I grew up in the twin cities.and worked in Savage,at the Harley shop which moved to Lakeville,& I heard it's quite a facility there. We used to fish near Lakeville,at Lake Marion.

Fall was my favorite season back home,I sure miss it!

Take care,
Steve
