It will work but not the greatest. For about $50 more you could get a nice 2 stage rotary vane pump that will go to 28" hg and 2.5 cfm on ebay brand new. Thats what I have and it works great!

You want to get very close to 29 inches in vacuum for stabilizing. It makes a big difference. I would go into the casting and stabilization forum and get information there. Curtis is usually lurking there and is pretty much the go to guy for this.
