Might I suggest Carl Jacobson Youtube Channel Video's on just this subject.

Wait until the 4th quarter is just about over then call it in favor of the team who's ahead.

First learn how to use them, if you want to make duck calls, learn how they sound, so your call will sound like a duck. Get out there and duck hunt with the call and see how good it works. If you want to make predator calls do the same. The plug and play guts are not the best sounding inserts, they need a lot of tweaking, if you don't know how to use them, you are just making a noise.
