This is my first attempt to do a segmented bowl.. the shape didn't quite make it to what I wanted and got changed part way through to a compote style instead of just a bowl.. I kept it simple for my first one.. two layers of ambrosia maple sandwiching a piece of curly maple with a walnut base. The red and yellow is veneer strips I put in the cross cuts.. two red strips sandwiching a yellow.. The bowl is just over 6" diameter x just over 5 inches high. I haven't done a finish yet.. the wife says to keep it soft, so I'm not sure yet what I'll put on it. It's too damp and wet to worry about it today, so will wait a day or two until the weather clears and it stops raining.
I have w/o poly in satin, or Danish oil, a beeswax & orange oil mixture or Fornsby tungoil finish... any suggestions???
