While in Waco at the S.W.A.T. symposium, I bought a piece of cherry, totally encased in wax. ......I assummed it was going to be fairly dry....
wrong...not...As soon as I made the first pass across the wax, the water
started loading up and running down the gouge...this was the "wet-est"
piece of wood I have ever turned! But, it turned great! lol It was so
wet that it loaded up sandpaper very quicky, so I decided to dry it in the micro-wave....It warped a little, shrunk 1/4" in 1 direction & 3/4" across the grain! I am definitely not an artist, but on a whim, I dyed it a little bit with ink & alchohol....the wife don't even like it (not unusual) but I do
so I named it Fall Follage!:cowboy:

Warped tenon too!

No the tenon was elongated also, so I just hand sanded it some and started applying the dye! I am going to finish it with 3 thin coats of
Min-wax polyurethane gloss, it only hs one coat now....

Did you turn it more , after you dried it, before staining?

I turned a piece of green Cherry once, got pretty wet from the splatter....but your right, it turned like butter!

I'm guessing you decided not to go the DNA route....was wondering why?
