duck calls

made a few calls a few days ago, fun to make with lots of room for some imagination. mesquite, rosewood and buckeye all very fun to cut.

Those are nice calls. I aw a vid on one Capt'n Eddie made and he shows an easy way to make them. I'll have to give that a try some time just for fun. I don't go duck hunting but they would make great gifts for some one who does. Fay

It is not as simple as you think, the barrel has to be the right length, too long and it takes too much air, too short and it is hard to play. You also did not add a lanyard groove to the ones you made. They really need some sort of band, brass and aluminum are the common ones, without bands the barrels can split. The finish has to be durable, it needs to a finish that can take the abuse of a duck hunter that is in the swamps, marshes etc. while hunting.

They are tools, if not properly made, they are useless. Just like a pen, no ink, it is just a fancy "stick".
